New NEOPLAN Tourliner comes
‘un-giftwrapped’!
Anthony's Travel in Runcorn has taken delivery of a new NEOPLAN Tourliner – the
third NEOPLAN model in its current fleet of 16 coaches, min-coaches and MPVs. The
latest addition was presented to company partner Anne Bamber as a 60th birthday
present, although son and company partner, Richard, said gift wrapping the new 12
metre luxury tourer was ‘too much of a struggle!’
The Cheshire-based operator is a staunch NEOPLAN supporter, having run a total of
12 different models since the company was founded in 1985; including the first NEOPLAN
Cityliner coach in the UK, various new and used NEOPLAN Euroliners, and the very
first Starliner registered in the UK. In 2007, Anthony's was one of the first operators
in the UK to acquire the then-new NEOPLAN Tourliner.
Specification on the 12 metre chassis includes an MAN EGR 400bhp ‘Add Nothing’ engine
and MAN TipMatic automatic transmission. Inside, passengers benefit from 49 half-leather
Keil seats, a centre washroom, ‘Look’ CCTV 8 camera system (with the facility to
show the driver's view through on-board Monitors), Orbital tracking system, microwave
and smart-vac.
Anthony's Travel carry out a wide variety of private hires, UK tours, contracts
and local services. The Company's new Tourliner will work primarily on behalf of
various tour companies with which Anthony's is associated.
“NEOPLAN is a great product,” said company partner, Richard Bamber, “and I know
it's regarded by many operators as a real symbol of quality. The introduction of
the new MAN and NEOPLAN sales team, and a new network of dedicated UK Bus & Coach
service outlets should help elevate the product to its rightful place as one of
the top sellers in the UK market. I know the MAN EGR ‘Add Nothing’ engine is a significant
incentive for many operators, too.
He went on, “Feedback from drivers has been extremely favourable. Our clients are
impressed with how spacious the vehicle is too, and with leg-room in particular.
I always do the leg-room check myself, as I am six-feet-six tall; so, if there's
room for me, there should be ample room for most of our clients!”
