Whitelaws Meridian Fleet
Whitelaw's Coaches of Stonehouse, the first bus operator in the UK to take the
new MAN Wrightbus Meridian low-floor city bus, has added a further five vehicles
to take its Meridian fleet to six. The Meridian fleet runs on local bus service
operations throughout Lanarkshire.
Based on the 12m MAN A22 Euro 4 chassis and Wrightbus's patented Aluminique bodywork,
the new product was launched last September before making its public debut at Coach
& Bus Live '07.
“The initial MAN Meridian proved itself very quickly,” said Sandra Whitelaw, “we
now have six, and they are performing exceptionally well. Reliability is key, of
course, and MAN has a great reputation for building the toughest, most reliable
chassis on the market.”
The MAN marque is becoming increasingly prevalent in Whitelaws colours, and Sandra
Whitelaw says this is thanks in no small part to MAN's ‘Add Nothing’ EGR engine
technology.
“It's an excellent, no-fuss solution to Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards, and it comes
without the additional complication and ongoing costs of AdBlue,” she said.
Whitelaws has made a significant investment in another MAN product, in the shape
of four the MAN 12.220 city-buses. Based on the MAN A76 / MCV Evolution bodywork,
the combination provides, in the opinion of Sandra Whitelaw, “the best available
chassis in its class, and a proven top performer since their introduction to our
fleet.”
This brings Whitelaw's fleet total to 39, with MAN product becoming an increasing
presence.
“We continue to enjoy an excellent relationship with MAN,” Sandra said, “the team
at the local dealer in Bellshill have been very helpful in meeting our needs, and
we feel we have been treated as a truly valued customer.”
